A very interesting book, about a country which no longer officially exists called Czechoslovakia which probably nowadays or then is not everyday in news...
The book is very well documented (impressive list of bibliography and notes), written in a very clear language, and sometimes gets you really caught in the reading.
The book deals with the birth of Czechoslovakia after IWW from the ruins of Austrian Empire, until the break-up in two completely different countries on Dec'92. I have liked it not only because of the period of history itself, but also because of the detailed analysis of the political intrigues along the history of Czechoslovakia which finally lead to a situation of a complete breakup of the country ... fortunately in a very orderly way and without any bloodshed as for example in Yugoslavia.
It is really interesting how the Spring of Prague is described comprising all the actors, from the countries of Warsaw Pact to Russia. Really surprising in first place to know how "the allied" countries dealt with the issue, and in second place the management and involvement of Russia in something which happened in such a small country as then Czechoslovakia then, "allied" and Russia were really scared about what was happening in Czechoslovakia.
