"El Redentor" Autor:J.Nesbo (Ed: DeBolsillo)

 De nuevo otra aventura del detective noruego H.Hole, enfrentándose a un malvado miembro del ejercito de salvación noruego que merced a un asesino "justiciero" de la guerra Yugoslavia permite al autor narrar una historia de final sorprendente.

 Como siempre con J.Nesbo muy buena historia, personajes y una traducción a cargo de C.Montes y A.Berntsen muy buena.

"The Starfish and the Spider" Authors: O.Brafman and R.Beckstrom ( Ed: Portfolio, Penguin )

I find it an interesting book about flexibility in organizations, how a decentralized organization outperforms those based on central command and fixed structure.

I have found very interesting the presentation about the organization of the Apaches and how the music industry has dealt with P2P music networks, the presentation is clear and understandable. The role of a catalyst is very clearly exposed and interesting.

Obviously a decentralized structure is more flexible and can better adapt to the circumstances than a centralized structure, with a given control and a command center and a chain of command at some distance of the action, nonetheless I'm not completely sure how the organization in a starfish approach acts as a coherent unit and  coordinated way. Surely the "catalysts team" must play a role within the organization to secure a given degree of coordination between different units... is it really enough? 

 An interesting book to have around.

"Curious: The desire to know and why your future depends on it" Author : I.Leslie ( Ed: Querqus Editions Ltd )

A very interesting book about curiosity and how our search for curiosity makes us a better version of ourselves in terms of academic and social performance..

The book is written in a very clear language, and exposes different types of curiosity ( diversive, epistemic ... )  and why we must not stop being curious. We live in an age where internet has given broad access to a given type of knowledge that only meets the surface of the issues, and does not invite us to dig in their root causes. In  most cases our knowledge is limited to 140 characters or the length of Facebook post.This book remembers us that we must not forget to dig in the causes of the events in our surrounding environment and  society.

I have liked the 8 ways of staying curious, and how they help us to nurture our born curiosity.

A book to have around and read from time to time.

"Meditaciones" Autor : M.Aurelio (Ed: Ariel Quintaesencia)

 Un libro escrito en la década de las guerras del Imperio Romano del año 170, que todavía en el año 2.019 está disponible debe ser un gran libro, y efectivamente este lo es.

 M.Aurelio fue un emperador romano, que durante sus campañas escribió las meditaciones; una serie de máximas  estructuradas en doce libros para vivir rectamente. El libro es interesante, la traducción es buena (anteriormente lo había intentado con una versión de Apple Books ...) e impresiona que en el 2.019 algo que escribió un emperador romano de origen hispano siga siendo de plena validez. 

• No andes perdido. Ante los impulsos se justo y ante cualquier imaginación mantén tu capacidad de comprender 
• Hago lo que debo hacer. Lo demás, cosas sin vida, irracionales, extraviadas, ignorantes de  su camino no me inquieta.
• Alejandro y su mulero fueron igualados por la muerte ...
• Ten cuidado de no convertirte en un cesar, de no impregnarte demasiado de ese espíritu porque ocurre...
• Si no es conveniente, no lo hagas; si no es cierto, no lo digas: Se dueño de la iniciativa.

Un libro para tener cerca y releer con frecuencia.
